This recipe is slightly adapted from a recipe for Double Chocolate Muffins that was on the side of the old Bournville Cocoa tins, so I can’t take full credit for it!
Ingredients:
- 175g/6oz butter
- 175g/6oz caster sugar
- 3 medium eggs
- 250g/8oz self raising flour
- 50g/2oz cadbury cocoa
- 100g/4oz dime bars (3.5 dime bars)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 150mls/ 1/4 pint of milk
Method:
- Preheat oven to 200C
- Line 12 hold muffin tin with muffin cases
- Blend butter and sugar together until pale and creamy (use an electric whisk, much easier)
- Add eggs one at a time, blending well between each one
- Add vanilla essence
- Sift flour, cocoa and baking powder and fold into mixture
- Stir in the milk
- Chop up the Dime Bars into small chunks
- Add the Dime Bar chunks and mix well
- Bake for 17 minutes
Let cool and enjoy!

Hope they went well!
General muffin advice: After adding the baking powder, be quick quick quick, because its raising power becomes “activated” as soon as it gets wet. Apparently. I try to add it in as late on as possible
