Dime Bar Muffins

This recipe is slightly adapted from a recipe for Double Chocolate Muffins that was on the side of the old Bournville Cocoa tins, so I can’t take full credit for it!

Chocolate Dime Bar Muffins

Ingredients:

  • 175g/6oz butter
  • 175g/6oz caster sugar
  • 3 medium eggs
  • 250g/8oz self raising flour
  • 50g/2oz cadbury cocoa
  • 100g/4oz dime bars (3.5 dime bars)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 150mls/ 1/4 pint of milk

Method:

  1. Preheat oven to 200C
  2. Line 12 hold muffin tin with muffin cases
  3. Blend butter and sugar together until pale and creamy (use an electric whisk, much easier)
  4. Add eggs one at a time, blending well between each one
  5. Add vanilla essence
  6. Sift flour, cocoa and baking powder and fold into mixture
  7. Stir in the milk
  8. Chop up the Dime Bars into small chunks
  9. Add the Dime Bar chunks and mix well
  10. Bake for 17 minutes

Let cool and enjoy!

    Hope they went well!

General muffin advice: After adding the baking powder, be quick quick quick, because its raising power becomes “activated” as soon as it gets wet. Apparently. I try to add it in as late on as possible :)
